Do you have the SD card in an SD slot? It might be bootable with a usb to SD adapter. The BIOS might see that essentially the same as a usb thumb drive.

I tried in the USB adapter as well. Doesn't boot

So you are likely going to have to copy the contents of the SD card to either a usb thumb drive or burn to DVD. How did you make the SD card?

I did it 3 years ago when bought the laptop. I think i followed a step by step HP utility instructions

Then it should be a correct recovery image and if you use a disk copying app it should work if you transfer it to a usb drive. I was asking because I did not think the HP recovery disk maker would let you make a recovery disk on an SD card.

But how do i use it do i run an executable file from it? Let's say i can make a bootable USB from a different computer. I get this one to boot and see the files from the SD card . Then what do i do?

You have to attach the usb and the SD to the same computer at the same time and just copy the contents of the SD card to the USB. Then use only the USB to recover the laptop.
