Getting vertical lines and different band of colors on my laptop screen right from start up. I tested it by connecting to external monitor, where it worked fine. What could be done before replacing the screen itself? Please guide me..

Hello
This kind of issues, and if external display gives normal image, are related with display cable.
Open and close the display seams to damage the display cable.
The first step is exchange display cable
Display cable (included in the Display Cable Kit) 681808-001
Consult the HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide to guide you in this task.

To confirm the parts consult, seraching for serial number or cable sparen 681808-001
or
google it

I am afraid that if the problem is with screen itself, then the invested money for new display cable will be waste. So give me some suggestion!
Update: I took some screenshots. but the screen shots are very clear asa opposed to my laptop's actual display

Hello
If you decide exchange display I suggest to exchange the cable.
I told you to exchange the display cable based on my experience.
In most cases the lines, stripes or flickering image issues it's caused by the display cable, but computing isn't a exact since :), some times it's necessary exchange both.

I went to service center where the servicing man checked by replacing with a new screen. It worked fine! We came to a conclusion that screen is really bad! I asked him to change the screen. He gave choices of LG or Samsung. what is best to get replaced with my bad one? How to check whether the new screen he is giving really new or not? Give me some suggestions please!

Hello
You need to get an LCD with this specs:
39.6 cm (15.6 in) high-definition, BrightView LED display panel
The brand is not so important.
If the display is new or refurbished, ask from warranty !
