Adapter detailsRalink RT3290 802.11bgn Wi-Fi Adapter

Issue: Cannot connect to a Wireless router/Mobile hotspot to access internet, although networks available can be seen(probable issue of adapter).

Not an issue: ISP connection is stable(not a wired connection problem), Wireless Router/Mobile Hotspot  is perfectly working(checked with other devices).

No recent changes and/or updates.

Model: HP 15-r036tu

OS: Windows 10 Home(64 bit)

Issue: Wifi does not connect to any network(be it a router or a mobile hotspot); only shows connection is available but does not connect to any.

Software/Hardware changes: NONE 

Troubleshooted before posting it.

Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

 

Reset the TCP/IP settings on your PC:

1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.

2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.

3. In the window that opens type "netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt" without quotes, and press enter.

4. Restart your PC and test.

 

It may also help to reset the winsock catalogue:

1. Go to your start screen/menu and type CMD.

2. Right click on the command prompt icon and chose Run as administrator.

3. In the window that opens type "netsh winsock reset" without quotes, and press enter.

4. Restart your PC and test.
