Good morning,
I purchased HP Pavillion 11 x2 pC with the RT3290. I have been experiencing frequent drop outs and I have had to reset the wireless adapter many times. I spent hours trying to update the wireless driver with no success.
Other than the issue with the wireless connectivity the PC has been great. I love the beats audio and many other features. I provide this information to HP in hopes that this issue will be fixed.
My network works fine for other devices including Dell's with Intel interfaces and Apple devices.
Thank you,.

I had purchased a new laptop a week ago and having the same problem with Ralink RT3290 wifi adapter. The weak signal and frequent disconnections is the biggest problem. As this leads to sudden disconnected from the router. I have tried different drivers but the problem remains the same. The signal strength with my other laptop in the same place show a full bar and a Excellent connectivity.
The problem is with Ralink RT3290 device.
This problem seems like a year old and still HP is putting the same Device in there Laptop this means that HP is not concerned with the quality. They are more concern on the profit with putting craped cheap part that are not working into there laptops.

I have same problems with Ralink adapter in Probook 470. Low signal, drop connection ....
Driver from mediatek site ver. 5.0.37.0 resolved my issues
Try download driver from http://www.mediatek.com/_en/07_downloads/01-1_windowsDetail.php?sn=5044 , extract zip to local hard, start device manager, and choose update driver - browse my computer for driver software - and point it to folder where you previously extract downloaded zip.
After updating driver to 5.0.37.0 wireless works great on my Probook.
Hope this helps someone.

Here the problem we are facing is of weak wifi signal.
So did your wifi adapter are having good signals or it is still weak signals. If possible take laptop of some other make and test it with HP RT3920 wifi adapter. Let us know the result

Hi kkaran,
In my post above, I suggest to download driver from mediatek site because latest Win 7 Pro 64-bit Ralink driver for Probook 470 G0 on HP site is ver. 5.0.21.0. With that version I can establish link, but signal is weak with frequent connection drops. After update signal strenght is great and connection is reliable.

Dear HP Support/Customer Service/Social Media Team,
I know you can see this, and I also am positive that you are well aware of the undeniable problem with these wireless adaptors. I've used your products for years, and this is the first time that I'm actually mad at your responses to us.
We are all adults, tech savvy, and have gone out of our way to create an account and post on your support forum. If you think that none of the following ideas occurred to us before all this effort, you are idiots:
1. Unplug our router and/or modem and plug it back in.
2. Reboot our computers
3. Update the driver
4. Restart the computer
5. Use "Windows Update"
Special Mention - I can't plug in an ethernet cord because my HP Split doesn't have an ethernet jack on it. I can try to mash it in to a USB port, but I highly doubt it will work.
Also - when you have 5 pages of people specifically pointing out that numerous devices in the same area as the faulty device are working as expected, but yours is not...do not tell us that we may have faulty routers or modems.
If the problem is "we skimped on the WiFi adapters and unexpectedly have quality issues in all computers with this model" - please just tell us, and provide a solution. After reading the horrible, generic copypaste answers that don't even address our questions, I'm far more upset than before.
HP is a big company and nobody expects things to be perfect, but you'll get much more respect if you're honest and upfront with your customers. In the grand scheme of things will a returned $800 laptop and a loss of 2-5 sales via poor word of mouth a big deal to your bottom line? Not at all.
But - it only takes a small group of people to have negativity spread. Even though I've loved your computers for close to a decade, but I'm sure another company out there may care about by business.
Yours Truly,
A Guy who had to re-connect to my router 4 times while writing this letter.
