Hi,

I'm trying to match the existing 4GB Ram  on my dv7-6100>>

hynix 4gb
PC3-10700 (667 MHz)
Hyundai Electonic
part # HMT251S6BFR8C-H9
serial#- [Edited for Personal Information]

(according to CPU-Z)

I cannot find anything similar anywhere, let alone Hynix.

I'm told I should match it for best results.

What is the best affordable replacement?

Confusing that Crucial is recommending Ram with different specs>>

4GB DDR3 PC3-12800 Unbuffered NON-ECC 1.35V
part #:CT5297650
DDR3 PC3-12800 • CL=11 • Unbuffered • NON-ECC • DDR3-1600

Am I missing something here? Is anything above 10700 ok to match with?

And I have no idea how many pins?

Thank You.

It is DDR3-1333 mhz memory also known as PC3-10600. This is what you need right here:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hynix-4GB-2Rx8-PC3-10600S-DDR3-1333MHz-204-Pin-Laptop-Memory-Tested-/3609457...

It is 204 pin SO-DIMM memory. CPU-Z sees it as 667 mhz but since it is DDR (double data rate) it is really 2 x 667 = 1334 rounded to 1333 so it is DDR3-1333 based on how fast it runs and it is also called PC3-10600 since the data bandwidth is 10600 mb/s. Admittedly confusing. Hynix is OEM memory. The only place to buy Hynix is on eBay or from a reseller since they do not sell to the public but consumer memory like Crucial and Kingston with the same specs will also work in tandem with the Hynix.

wow, fast! Great, Thank You!  Does the "S" at the end of 1600S make a difference?

Thanks.

I think "S" means synchronous which is kind of redundant as all this memory is synchronous so I don't think it means anything special.

One thing you can easily do is open the memory door and just look at the memory you have. You are going to have to open it anyway to add memory.
