I agree you checked registry entries to resolve the issue
I would like you to check the steps shown below one more time
The NumLock key is a key that toggles the state of the Numbers section of the keyboard (you know, the right-hand side keys duh...) The state of the NumLock key can be set in three ways:
• In the BIOS (not all computers have that feature in their BIOS)
• By Windows (i.e. Registry setting)
• By the user (i.e. by manually pressing the NumLock key)
I am not sure about your notebook model. So, I am suggesting generic steps for Windows Operating System.
To control the state of the NumLock key follow these steps:
1. Click Start, Run and type "REGEDIT" without quotes.
2. In Registry Editor, navigate to the following registry key:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Keyboard
3.In the right pane, right-click and create the following value (DWORD):
InitialKeyboardIndicators
4. Give it a value of 0 (zero) or 2 (two)
0 = NumLock is turned off after logon
2 = NumLock is turned on after logon
5. Close Registry Editor and reboot the computer.

There now appear to be 2 separate logs on this topic: the new one being prefixed with "Re: ".
Anyway, when discussing the issue 1st time round I stated
that this laptop's BIOS is Insyde, which does not touch keyboard layout,
and that in regedit , under HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Control Panel > Keyboard, the InitialKeyboardIndicators setting was already set to 2. Now I havesincethis all started upgraded my Windows from 8.1 to10, and, whether as a result orjust by luck, I no longer seem to have a problem: by default, the numerical pad is numerical.
Still, this doesn't take away from the fact thatthis is still a nasty keyboard: the keys around the number pad when it's working as such (PgDn, Del, Cursor Left/Right..) are so small as to be close to useless; and, as you can see in the foregoing, the Space bar only works intermittently.
But let's sign off on this topic now.
