My Laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6-6135dx  with win 7 pro OS and the finger print reader does not work!   I downloaded the HP simplepass Identify protection 2011 software and tried to install it. However I get the pop up notice that the "trueAPI (x64)" needs to be installed. The True API (x64) software will not install and I am unable to get simple pass to work correctly.  The Simple pass software will time out before I can place my finger on the finger print reader to enroll it.  The finger print reader light does flash and I beleive the problem is with software and not hardware.  Can You Help?

Greetings @safetechie,

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Forums.

I understand that you are unable to install and use HP Simplepass on your computer.

Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.

Have you run HP Support Assistant?

As you have changed the operating system on your computer from Home premium to professional. Click here for the specifications.

I would recommend you run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated. Especially BIOS.

Please refer to this HP Article regarding HP Simple pass for assistance.

Make sure all the Windows updates are installed.

If the installation fails again, please clear the temporary files on the computer and try again.

Keep me posted.

If the information I've provided was helpful,

Good Luck.
