I prefer to connect via cat5e to the router and noticed a few days ago that the NIC's speed is showing only 100 Mbps
as opposed to 1.0 Gbps as it should. Reinstalled driver: sp73190, but no luck.
Internet browsing and downloading is slow. Quicker when on wi-fi.
Some more details below:
How can I get it to work properly? Please help!

Hi:
Your notebook only comes with a 10/100 ethernet adapter as set forth in the product specs...
Look next to the Network Interface line.

Strange to see such a low spec NIC on a such a new laptop!
All other laptops and devices in my house show 1.0Gbps when on cable so expected the same with this one.
Is there a way to change myself the NIC with a better one? Would this be possible?

Yes, I know...most HP consumer notebooks only have 100 MBPS ethernet adapters, which is kind of lousy in this day and age.
Unfortunately, there is nothing you can do to upgrade other than purchasing an external usb to rj-45 gigabit ethernet adapter.
The 10/100 nic in the pc is part of the motherboard so it can't be easily replaced.
