Hello, it seems my hard drive is dieing and i need to replace it, however the recovery data (which includes the SO and all the HP software) is inside a partition and also protected somehow. Now i replace the disk theres no way i can copy these recovery files to the new disk.
On the other hand, before replacing the disk, i will try to do a complete low level format but this would mean to lose the recovery partition as well, leaving me without my original SO and all the bunch of HP tools programs for the webcam and such. What can i do?

Hi,
You can order a replacement set of Recovery Discs using the link below - using these discs to reinstall the OS on the new HDD will also re-load the original software, drivers and re-create the Recovery Partition on the new drive.
If you have any problem with this link, order them directly from HP.
If you live in the US, contact HP Here.
If you are in another part of the world, start Here.
Regards,
DP-K

I live in Uruguay, pretty small country from South America, ordering a disk would cause heavy troubles since there are no HP support centers here so it would mean international problems which i cant handle right now.
Isn't there a way to make a recovery DVD from the actual recovery partition? The disk is still alive, i can still use the OS. There should be a way to make a recovery disk by myself.

I seem to have an issue with the recovery manager, it doesn't want to start. Here's the error from the event viewer.
Its in spanish but you can understand it, CDCreator.exe doesn't open.

Hi,
Can you post back with the following.
1. The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook - see Here for a guide on locating this information.
2. The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ).
3. Can you still read ( don't post back with the actual code ) the 25 character Product Activation Key on your COA label - An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.

DP-K

This is the only info i could find:
Product number: WQ687UA#ABA
Serial number: [Personal Information Removed]
The notebook is an hp pavilion dv6 - 3050us
Microsoft windows 7 home premium 64 bits.
Yes i can read the Product Activation Key.
Im about to do a complete low level format, i have backed up the hp tools and the software in the recovery partition in case i need them, but i will be probably installing a fresh copy of windows 7 without all the HP tools and just install the drivers needed. Do you think i may have any issues?

Hi,
I don't think you'll have any issue with a clean Windows 7 installation - you can actually use your existing Product Activation key as follows.
Create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook - ie Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here. These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.
http://www.kodyaz.com/articles/how-to-activate-windows-7-by-phone.aspx
Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.
Note: If needed, the HP_TOOLS partition can be re-created by downloading and installing the UEFI software on the following link - when you run the installer, choose your HDD as the installation choice.
