Intel Pentium
Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit)

My computer got something spilled on it and crashed. After sitting for a time it now comes back on with a black screen and a blue box that says enter administrator password or power on password. What I thought might be the password was invalid. Any suggestions? Thanks

Hello @tam13

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.

It would be very mild to say that what you describe is very strange and unexpected behaviour. Never before have I heard of a BIOS password enabling itself after spilling a "drink"... Anyway,

In order to assist you in removing the BIOS/start up password you see, let me know your PC model and product number (info - how to here).  Try to enter a wrong password 3 times and hit ENTER after every attempt. Eventually, you should get a "System disabled" or "halted" message+code. Let me know the code.

Thank you for your cooperation.
