Thanks!  This finally rejuvinated my fingerprint reader on my 8460p Elitebook after upgrading to Windows 10!  A little funky looking, but it works!

I just read through several threads and I'm sticking with 7 pro on my 8560W... My last HP computer!

My problem occurred because I needed to uninstall HP Protect Tools from Win7 so that I could upgrade to Win10.   But the installer was broken and other links here had me install a later version of the HP Protect Tools.   So now I'm  unable to login via any account when the system boots normally -- I get Windows Security HRESULT 0x80074003.   Oddly, I can login via Safe Mode but could not install the old HP Protect software as the MSI Service is disabled in safe mode.   While in Safe Mode I logged in and created a new account with no password and put it in the Administrator group.   Out of safe mode I still get the error and cannot login with the new account.   System Restore can't replace uninstalled software and hence doesn't work.   And using my Recovery Disk, "Startup Repair" also does nothing because the system thinks it has started successfully.

 

Update:   I've now gotten back in by following these instructions:

When I disable all services, I get a spinning cursor associated with the fingerprint reader.   After about 30 seconds I get an error message indicating that biometrics are not available and it lets me login.   And now I'm back to being unable to uninstall HP Protect tools because of the broken uninstaller.

The link does not open, displays and unknown error message. I need to upgrade to Windows 10 as well faced with the hp protect issue. Please help me install it

Microsoft Uninstalled tried to upgrade to Windows 10 then decided my HP ProBook 4530s was not compatible - could not reinstall HP CLient Security or fingerprint reader functionality which they removed saying they were incopatible with W10.  Please advise I have downloaded every link - nothing works - I'm on Windows 7 Professional originally 64 bit reconfigured to 32 bit to accommodate MYOB software that I no longer use.
