Hi, I'm planning to upgrade the memory on this laptop.

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how to remove the bottom cover? Has anyone successfully done it? I've seen the manual, it looks straightforward, but would be interested to hear of other's experiences before I start!

Many thanks.

Thanks for taking the trouble to reply.  I'm aware of the manual, and the risks involved and was hoping to hear from someone who has actually carried out the procedure. Real life is never as simple as the manual!

Or maybe it is?

I popped off the bottom cover as described in the service manual. Remove all the screws from the bottom (2 are under the rear grommets), remove the CD-ROM drive and pry off the cover starting in the middle under the touchpad. Since the cover is held in by clips, you'll need a separating tool or a spudger to disengage the clips. A guitar pick also works well. The hardest part for me was trying to remove the cover from around the VGA port.
