Please I have the same problem.
Bought laptop from company when retired and everything went ok until my son had to do recovery, we realized BIOS was password protected. Never dealt with that before, tried suggested 12345678 did not work.

Cecille.
There is no master passwords or password generater for that model.
You must contact HP support.
OR
Replace the BIOS chip.
Sorry.

I'm writing just to tell you that I solved the problem calling someone of my company's IT department.
He gave me a couple of password to try and one of them worked, but they are company specific, so I cannot help anybody else.
Bye

Hello everyone,
Can somebody generate master BIOS password for this HP Compaq 2230s. The owner bought it from his coworker 2 years ago. Yesterday, he forgot his Windows password. I could not get into BIOS to change the boot order so that I can boot in CD/DVD or USB for windows password reset.
