Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

When trying to use the option to “Reset this PC”, and then “Remove everything” , the reset failed with the error, “There was a problem resetting your PC”.  What should I do?

Laptop:- HP Notebook  15-ac171ne

Windows:- Windows 10 Home

Hello,

Thank you for posting in the HP Support forum.

With regards to your problem, please try to perform these steps:

- read the guides to ensure you do everything as it should :

- enter the BIOS to ensure your time is correct and BIOS set to default settings

1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button

2. Power it on.

2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one

3. Choose F9 to open BIOS

4. Ensure the settings are configured to default ones

If you have performed the above steps and it still fails, please read >this Microsoft article< from their forum.

You will need to use original HP Recovery media to reset the PC to factory condition.

* You can purchase it from this HP partner >> http://www.best2serve.com/page/rcd_hardware_related_products/?product_type_id=4&hardware_product_id=...

* Once you receive the recovery media you will have to boot from it to complete the steps. Here are detailed instructions :

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes and do not hesitate to post again. 🙂
