My elitebook has been having a strange issue lately...I start it up on almost full battery power (sometimes charging, sometimes not), and within 1-2 minutes it will totally shut down on its own. Sometimes I actually make it to my desktop, sometimes I don't. Sometimes I'll even see a "shutdown error" blue screen with an option to restart, at which point the computer usually shuts itself off before I can even choose an option. The complicated part of the matter is that I cannot really use the computer long enough to diagnose the system, and since this notebook was given to me by the college that I attend, I am not an "administrator". I've got some deadlines to meet and work to be done, and I'm in a tough spot with this. Any help is much appreciated.

I expect you have already updated your BIOS to the latest version?  If not fo here HP EliteBook Revolve 810 G1 Tablet and select your operating system.  This can be caused by overheating, so this page has a solution.

If you hit the f2 key during initialization you should go to the diagnostic screen.

If you have a diagnostic partition there will be many options available, if you have a custom image you should at least have a few tests you can run which will help you determine if you have a hardware failure or an operating system problem.

If my post resolves your issue please click the accepted as solution button under it.
