OK, I have a weird problem.
It all started when I went to copy and paste a chunk of text. When I right-clicked it, nothing happened. The little list didn't appear, and it confused me. I thought maybe it was a problem with the computer, perhaps somehow I had locked the button and that all I had to do was google it. So that I did, and when I went to toggle from google to another tab I had open (I have Google Chrome), nothing happened. I could click on the address bar no problem, but I couldn't click on the little wrench button or toggle between tabs. The only thing I could do was close, minimise or restore the window down, or else just close the tab to get back to the previous tab. I can open a new tab too. I concluded that my right-click button must be stuck and Google Chrome thinks that when I go to click, because it thinks I'm also holding the right-click button as well as the left-click button that I'm middle-clicking, resulting in the inability to toggle between tabs.
I thought that perhaps maybe something was stuck underneath the key, so I tried to clean it out, but to no avail. (If anyone has any advice on how to do that, preferably without disassembling the laptop, that would be helpful!). I've even started to think that there's nothing under it because when I click both keys they seem fine, but there still could be something under it.
Now, here's the weird part. I highlighted something to check if at last my button had become unstuck, and after clicking a few times in a row, the little list appeared, and as soon as it had appeared it disappeared again!
Also, since having this problem (last night), I cleaned my keys (procedure) and tried to see if there was anything restricting my touchpad. I was clicking a lot of buttons and many windows opened, none of which would close! No matter where I clicked, even on the red X, they wouldn't close, yet every single thing on the taskbar was available to me. I fixed it eventually, but now I'm seriously confused.
This happened again - except the other way around - where my taskbar became unclickable (by the left-click button), but it hadn't froze. I have Windows 7 so whenever I scroll over the start button it should light up the logo, but I don't think the logo did light up. I had Twitter open and I could click everything there (aside from toggle tabs), but the only thing unclickable was the taskbar - I couldn't toggle between windows, check my battery status or signal strength etc. I put my laptop on standby mode powered up again and it was gone.
I also assumed that this was a problem with my internet, but I can't draw in paint (sounds childish, I know - but it seems Paint also recognises that the right-click button is being held down) and can't copy/paste in microsoft word.
Sometime when one of these two strange problems happened, I refreshed my Google and it said connection error, but my laptop was connected to internet full signal strength. Upon refreshing again, it said something like 'Welcome to nginkslx' or something similiar. I'm not sure if this is at all related or if it was just because I was hitting lots of buttons when I was giving my laptop a clean, but it happened during one of the scenarios above so I thought you may want to know about it.
I own a HP Pavilion G6 - a 1164SA, I think - with Windows 7.
Many thanks for actually reading all this!
Love, Kay:smileyhappy:
Edited: It's only been a few minutes since I posted this, and again my task bar is unclickable. The Windows Logo Start Button won't light up after all, and I can't click anything! Whenever I used the start button on my keyboard to open the start menu it opens, but again I can click nothing. However, when I scroll over it, the title of the current tab comes up as a little rectangle (like when you scroll over the X button and it says 'Close'. This takes longer than usual to fade away. Please help!
Edit 2: After a bit more clicking I realised that my left-click button also seems to stop working sometimes, resulting in the inability to click either the window open or the taskbar. I use my laptop frequently as I am a student but I don't pound my right and left click buttons nor have I did anything to them to make them stick. The left one has been loose for a few weeks but not severely, but now it is jiggling about a lot - not impressed, HP! The laptop is only 3 months old.

I have the hp hdx x16t and have noticed that my right click button does not return to its normal position when I click on it. It stays in a depressed position....like maybe a little spring under it has collapsed or stopped working. I can still press on it and the options menu will appear but I don't like doing it that way. Is this a difficult thing to fix or should I send my laptop to hp to fix?
thank you for any advice or information.
