Agreed! Infact i have shred your post on several threads that were a duplicate of this.

Satern since you are still here for trolling, might as well tell us the MEI version on your laptop. I wonder if so called YOUR method helped you to overcpme the issue, I am intrested in knowing what is so diffrent about your OS build.

Hey red robot that was offensive dont call me a troll ! It worked for me (even if it was the hardway to solve the problem) !

It worked for a few people too! i just came back here to see if the problem got fixed for you guys ! Its version 9 ok ? i know now it was the problem,... maybe reinstalling windows reverted it or something i dont know but i know now that was the issue... the newer version was corrupted.

It was not currupted.  It has a BUG.  There is a difference.  Use the correct language.

Your revert-reinstall was never THE solution.  It was A solution which would have popped back up for many after Windows Update dumped the IME v.11 back into their system.

Oh my god, don't tell me the problem for you guys still isnt fixed....i think its about 3 weeks now and my laptop still does not have any issues..

@Yep, tomorrow, it'll be a whole month since the release of Windows 10 to the masses and the issue still remains out in the open. A week ago or so, @DanG82 posted a solution that has been working for me from then to as I'm writing this comment. The trick was downgrading to the latest Intel Management Engine Interface for Windows 8.1 while still on Windows 10. I think I've seen posts from HP in different threads talking about how they're waiting for something from Microsoft or Intel, yet still there isn't one in this thread, along with anything from Microsoft or Intel that I know of yet.

Since the issue seems to be "fixed" so far due to rolling back to an Intel driver, I wonder if Intel knows that their latest IMEI driver for Windows 10 may be causing some issues, and I also wonder if it's tied to other drivers or if it's just this main one since when I did pretty much any solution (besides this last one) that had to do with updating/messing with drivers, the solution worked for a small amount of time then wore off.

Here's the difference...  The two upgrade methods are an identical version of Windows 10 itself, but when you upgrade via the Notification Area icon while connected to the Internet, Windows automatically searches for and installs any available driver updates.  Meanwhile, when you upgrade via the Media Creation Tool, that process cannot occur so you're left with older driver versions.  In the case of this issue, which is caused by the latest available version of the MEI driver, avoiding that automatic driver update process is what kept the sleep/shutdown problems away for you.

The point of this forum is to help people find solutions, which the threads on these issues have certainly done.  I don't desire to get involved in these debates, but I'll just say this...  Sat3rn, your method of reupgrading via the Media Creation Tool did help lead us to the solution, and I'm sure I speak for many others when I say thank you for that!  The problem is you were quite aggressive about insisting that doing so was the solution and mocking those who refused to try it.  It was not the solution; it was a means to an end, and it helped us figure out what that "end" (the faulty v11 of the MEI driver) was.

I appreciate that you have now acknowledged this, and that you continued to return to this thread even after solving the issue on your own device.  It was just the confrontational, brash tone in many of your posts that rubbed some people the wrong way.

Just my opinion...  Take it or leave it.  🙂

Maybe this all has something to do with DirectX v11 supported Intel display (hardware) and the driver including mei v11.
Seen many laptops even Dell and acer problems being solved by downgrading mei to v9.5.

I downgraded to the IME driver offered on the HP download page for my laptop, version 9.5.2.1489, and then I disabled the automatic update as suggested.

Worked yesterday like a dream and today it hangs again when it tries to sleep.  I have checked the IME driver in Device Manager and it is still version9.5.2.1489.

I have disabled sleep again but this is getting a little annoing now, any ideas would be much appreciated.

My laptop is a pavilion 15 - Model # F4T58EA#ABU

Thanks all ....

Sorry to hear that!

Try the same steps with version 9.5.24.1790 (which you can download directly from HP here) and let us know how it goes.

I have just gone to add/remove programs and although my driver says it is version 9.5.2.1489 the Intel Management Engine Components says it is version 9.5.23.1766.

I have unistalled it and installed version 9.5.24.1790 as advised and in add and remove components it still listed as version 9.5.23.1766.

Why are the version numbers different?

I will let you know if it finally sleeps OK over the next few days.

^^Exactly! Sat3rn all I am saying is that the problem is fixed. Either you did not care to read the whole thread before commenting or you were trollling us if you read through it you were trying to be sarcastic.
