After cloning the SSD with Samsung software:
First boot: No Bootdevice
second boot: ntoskrnl.exe error
And after more attempts, still not booting.
Sometimes there is the "Starting Windows" screen, but there isn't a logo appearing.
My HDD boots fine.
What could prevent the SSD from booting?

ntoskrnl.exe error fix with /FixBoot
not booting /FixMbr
After windows start
Push Start Run
sfc /scannow

How did you format your SSD during windows setup?

I suggest you delete all partitions (assuming you don't have any data needed), format to NTFS and see if that will solve the problem.

I've got the same errors. I think there is nothing wrong with the installation, and if you try 1000 different ways, the same error will appear. I have ProBook 4540s with Intel SSD 530 180GB. Bios and ssd firmware up-to-date. SSD is working fine, scanned with windows and Intel SSD toolbox; no bad sectors, or any other problems. Memory is OK - scanned with Memtest +86, all 11 tests. No dedicated videocard. Wifi is working fine. So...
From what I've seen, some HP laptops and SSDs don't get along eachother in Windows enviroment. Maybe it's the F.43 bios, maybe the motherboard is faulty; don't know. But I think the problem is with the HP laptop, not with Windows or SSD. It can't be both Intel SSD and Samsung SSD with bad firmwares.
Now, let me elaborate my situation.
When I first installed Windows on Intel SSD, a month ago, the same error appeared; I restarted and the Windows was working fine. But now and then Windows froze at startup at different moments. After a month, I was unable to use my keyboard after windows started. So I reinstalled Windows with delete partition, format etc., all new. After first restart ...ERROR. ARRGGGGHHHH!!! I won't bother with it. I think I'll use the old HDD.

Hello all,
Because of HP Expert Day, I decided to bring up this issue again.
As stated above, I (still) own a Samsung SSD which is not working with my HP Probook 4540s.
Maybe there is an HP Expert around which can try to solve this issue with me?
Or maybe give a statement that it cannot be solved because of incompatibility?
It also seems that I am not the only one having this issue.
I hope that one of the HP Experts will reply to this topic for helping solving the issue.
Thanks in advance.

Hi JWtjuhh,
Well this link gives all The specs of the Probook 4540s - http://static.highspeedbackbone.net/pdf/HP%20ProBook%204540s%20Notebook%20PC%20Quick%20Specs.pdf
However under drive options SSd is not listed .
I would guess this is a case of Incompatability
Even if you contact Support they would Also say that if the specs doesnT mention the SSD it means that its not tested with & is Potentially incompatible.
Considering the Steps that you have already tried I would think the SSD that you have there is Not compatable witH the Device .
Hope The link helps
Regards,

I encountered a similar problem upgrading my HP slimline s5130f. Booting fromo the cloned 200 GB C: drive on SSD didn't work. To solve it, I had to clone the 100 MB hidden partition on the hard drive over to the SSD, and name it SYSTEM like the original hidden partition.
Then I used DISKPART to make the 100 MB volume ACTIVE. Windows booted with errors about missing drivers, presumably for the new SanDisk 240 SSD, corrected itself, and after a reboot all was well.
