I am attempting to install XP on an old 6910p laptop. Immediately after loading drivers, I get the dreaded BSOD:
STOP: 0x0000007e (0xc0000005, 0xf74be0bf, 0xf78da208, 0xf78d9f08)
pci.sys - Address F748E0BF base at F7487000, DateStamp 3b75d1ac
Here are all of the steps I have taken:
different memory
different HDD (standard and SSD)
reset bios
updated bios
disabled any additional devices in bios (bluetooth, wlan, etc)
loaded sata drivers
replaced windows media
booted from external cd drive
I can't think of anything else to try... I've run out of ideas

Use a single stick of memory known to work in the notebook.
What is the installed CPU?
Which version of Windows XP are you attempting to install? (is it 32 or 64-bit?)

Hi:
Did you install the correct sata drivers?
Please see this guide, Intel section for how to slipstream the sata drivers, or use a USB FDD at the F6 prompt to install the specific sata driver your notebook's controller needs.
If you use a USB FDD, then you use the Up/Down arrow keys to scroll to and select the Intel(R) ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller from the list.
I have zipped up and attached the applicable drivers you need to slipstream or copy to a usb FDD.
If you use a USB FDD only copy the contents of the folder to the floppy disk, not the whole folder.
If that still doesn't work, go into the BIOS and change the SATA Native Mode setting from Enabled to Disabled.
