I am writing because I am having the exact same issue as the individual that posted this:
Could someone from HP please reach out to me. This computer is just over 18 months old, and this isn't acceptable whatsoever.

Hi @shamilton2,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!
Please click “Accept as Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution.
Click the “Kudos, Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

Hello Praveenbv,
I do not want to contact a local repair shop as I know that they will charge me for this repair. I do not care that it is out of warranty by 6 months. I have found DOZENS of similar complaints on this forum about the Envy x360 hinges being faulty. I want to know how HP will resolve this, free of charge, as this is unacceptable that this issue is persisting with an entire population, yet nothing has been recalled.
Please let me know how you can help me with this. If needed, I will escalate this to the appropriate people.
Stuart
