I used to use the H P Support assistant all the time, it was very intrusive but I got used to it. Then 1 day it just stopped being able to download the updates. I didn't realise that it was for a specific time and then only subscription limited support and tried to find out what had gone wrong with it.
I went onto Fire Fox and replaced it with a YAC Free add on, and then started using all the Windows own complete Free Fire Walls, Virus support, internet support, and literaly everything you can get from the H P Support assistant but without the intrusion. I find my computer functions better with Windows own support for all its own programmes and can only conclude that this is a money making venture from H. P. that wasn't nescessary from the start.
I frequently hover over H P support Assistant in Uninstall or change Programmes, Should I delete it, it does nothing and it takes up time in my start up.

Yeap I got the same problem ...once it stated installing I crashed hard ...it just shut everything down I do it the old fashing way now .. I go to Hp site look for the drivers that way "note that you need to find the model number and the prodect number and make sure you get the right drivers for it... just hard to find here because not to many of them been update to windows 10 yet and alot of them are still useing windows 7 or vista ..and its not just Hp alot of computers I work on of other brands I still have the same problems so its nothing that Hp is doing its the manufactors that make the componets that needs to update the drivers.

Thank you for your reply. I have deccided to leave the HP Support assistant after reading numerous advice.
I have stopped all the features on it that are being done by other programmes, eg: Windows Defender, Windows Firewall, Windows update, Windows Trouble Shooting, Scandisk and defrag features etc.
I am using the Free software (well worth giving them a donation after a while) that is found in my Firefox Browser, the one I really (Rate) like is called YAC and this does everything else that the HP Support Assistant used to, but without all the intrusion. YAC has many things found in Support Assistant eg: Anti-malware, Clean up which removes junk files, speed up, protection, unistaller, and an ad block.
I am not going to remove the support Assistant as it doesn't set any tasks anymore and is a bit player that tells me how healthy my battery is.
