Hi, i have the same problem with an HP G50 laptop.
I opened the laptop and check the vents and paste from the cpu, all good and clean. i unpluged some unnecesary cables and left only hdd, ram, fan, screen and battery on it but still does the same. it powers off after a second and wont power on again. if i leave it for a while it starts for a minute and the cuts off again.
It's not overheating at all.
What strikes me as weird is that the power led next to the plug is flickering like if something is draining the power.
When i leave it or plyg on and off a few times and the led stays on, it starts but only for a few moments.
i even tried leaving just the m/board (nothing else plugged) and still the led flickers.
Any ideas of what it might be?

well neither the caps or num lock blinks, but the pc has two power leds. one next to the plug and one in the front next to the hdd led (also has a power led, one that is on when computer starts and one for when the power suply is pluged in). The led of the power suplly is blinking twice when the computer finally starts. after that it does nothing.

@Cool-Z77,
Does that light blink when you are trying to boot with just the AC adapter plugged in with no battery?

@Cool_Z77,
Do you get the same response from the power LED lights.
