HP ENVY - 17m-bw0013dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Windows update shows the HP SoftwareComponents 1.40.2695.0 pending download and I cannot get it to download or get rid of it. It has been this way for a couple of months. When I click Download in Windows Update, there is no response.

I have ripped out the Windows Update mechanism manually and restored it and that clears out the pending download until the next time I check for downloads. How do I complete this download or eliminate the prompt?

Hi:

Unzip and run the Microsoft Hide Windows updates utility that I zipped up and attached below.

After the utility runs, check the box to hide the offensive update and it will no longer appear unless you run the tool again to unhide the update.

That's fine but I want to fix the problem, not hide it. I've had a semi-meltdown of my laptop and have been getting back on its feet. I have almost everything fixed except this annoying problem.

thanks,

Brandt
