{Content Removed: no legal discussion permitted} This is the second defective hp item i have owned, the first one had a bad video card which ended up being nvidia problem. but hp failure to claim responsibility is just disgusts me.

Still no resolution to this issue?  This will be the last HP computer I purchase.

MrMatthew,

I tried that, but it's only good if you have a service contract or warrenty is still good.  Both of which I do not have.  I don't understand why HP will not release the latest drivers and firmware for the BC-5500S.

The way HP chooses not to respond to this serious malfunction tells quite a lot about HP:s plans to quit PC business totally. I am very disappointed.

yes an extreme dissapointment my HDX18 laptop was, not in it's performance as a machine, but in the support (not) provided by HP.  i had to locate my own drivers for running XP, which at the time was all that my audio production software would work with (pre W7) - (i'm the guy who made the XP on HDX18 guide - still up) and after 2 years i can still come back here and find countless frustrated customers.

Tried to find out why my blueray does not work any more and when i contacted Microsoft they told me it was a hardware issue and they could not help and i should contact HP. So i did just that and they told me that there is nothing they can do but if i contact there support and pay $$ they might be able to  do something lol ,,,so the lesson i have learned is not to trust either now that i,m out of quite a bit of money and not able to use my blue ray 😞

HP has very poor support and i think i will go back to ASUS after this experance with HP
