I have just recently had a problem where when I turn up the volume (either through my headphones or the computer's speakers) I get a terrible screeching noise and feedback. I was playing around with WMM trying to get the narration to work, so maybe I mucked up something, but I reset the audio speaker and microphone in Control Panel > Sound, made sure the Audio driver was up to date and those haven't worked... Every time I turn up the volume past 20 I get a squealing noise with a low wavy subtone. Please help!

HI @Kate_M

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion 15-e018nr Notebook and issue with the sound  issues. Here is a link that will help you fix the no sound on your Notebook.

You could try

1. Right click the Speaker icon in the bottom right corner by your time.
2. Click Playback Devices.
3. Click Speakers.
4. Click properties.
5. Click the advanced tab on the Properties window.
6. Change the Default Format drop-down to the highest quality.
7. Apply the properties.
8. Click OK to close the properties window.
Reset touchscreen calibration

Hope this helps with the sound.

Thanks.
