HP Pavilion Dv6-A1M23AV  Windows 7 64-bit

The sound skips while I play music in Windows Media Player or Media center.  Windows support states that this is caused by the sound driver not being fully compatible with the 64-bit system.  Is there any way to get a driver that is compatible or is there a work around? As I am sure you can imagine this is quite irritating.  Thank you for any help.
