I want to update the BIOS of my hp t620 thin clients. It should be possible with Linux OS.
But the files are missing: there is no flash utility and no firmware download. Only a Windows .exe file.

Hello;
Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!
Sorry, but I don't have very good news for you ...
THIS is the primary reason many folks retain dual-boot setups with both MS Windows and a Linux distro -- the apps that OEMs provide for updating BIOS only run in MS Windows, not in Linux.
If you have an MS Windows box, you can install and run 7-Zip to uncompress the HP BIOS softpaq archives into the constituent files. But then, you still need a BIOS flash utility to apply the updates, and HP does not supply one that runs in Linux.

Thanks!
It is stated:
For systems with Linux installed, you can also use the BIOS flash utility provided and its associated driver to restore or upgrade the system BIOS within a Linux environment
unar sp77036.exe gives:
sp77036.exe: Self-extracting CAB
/L40_0213.exe (5813568 B)... OK.
Successfully extracted to "./L40_0213.exe".
This file L40_0213.exe cannot be extracted further.

That's because the extracted .EXE file is a Windows executable, not a self-extracting archive.
And, as you probably know, Windows executables can not be run in Linx.

Windows executables can be run in Linx.
Wine is a free implementation of Windows on Unix.
I do not wish to install Wine on my thin clients.
Thanks anyway.
