Windows 8

My touch screen is not working anymore. This has happend before but back then it still had its warranty. At the hp center, they just intalled sp63116.exe or the AUO Touchscreen Firmware update, and it worked. They told me to just run it in case it hapens again. And last december, touchscreen stopped working again, at that time I still had windows 8. I upgraded to windows 8.1 hoping it can fix the problem and it didn't.

So far, here is the list of the stuff I tried;

1. followed the methods in troubleshooting here: Troubleshooting Touch Screen Issues in Windows 8 (exept the restoring part)

2. ran the sp63116.exe again, then reboot

3. disabled then enabled the HID-compliant touch screen then reboot

4. check for updates, all the related driver in the device manager

5. unchecking the "allow saving power" in the HID-usb port, then reboot

6. updating the BIOS and running it

7. installing latest driver of the intel graphics in accordance with my model

8. trying these drivers:

      - sp63259.exe

      - sp64569.exe

      - sp64375.exe

      - sp62072.exe

      - sp63747.exe

9. tried uninstalling the synaptics driver, reboot, then installing it again

I don't want to restore my laptop as much as possible. I just hope there's still a way to fix this without resetting my laptop again. I would appreciate any help. Thank you in advance.

Hi @LynnFlores ,

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. Thank you so much for all the steps you have taken to resolve. Very helpful. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion TouchSmart 14-b164tu Sleekbook and issues with the Touchscreen after an update with Windows 8.1. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot this Touchscreen with Windows 8.1.

Please start  at the top and work your way down. As they do seem silly but we need to know if something does not finish correctly.

Please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices, as these could cause some issues.

Listed on the page shows you about a Touchscreen driver that is available. If you go into the Device manager and look under Human Interface Devices. Do you see the driver listed there?

If no, do you see something listed under other devices?

If touch functionality still does not appear to be working correctly, follow the steps listed in the document to calibrate the screen.

I hope something here helps.

Thanks.
