Did this just happen recently after an update of some sort?
Use a usb wired or wireless mouse as a temporary workaround
Invoke the Control panel. Select small icons and then , the Mouse section.
Select the Hardware tab to see the status of the touchpad.
What do you see there?
Try double tapping very quickly in the upper left-hand corner of the touchpad to enable it.

Maybe I should update maybe ?
I was using a wireless mouse instead but now that isn't working.
In the hardware status all the fields are blank.
There isn't the double touching facility on this note pad
Thank you

The first thing I would do now is open the Device Manager to see if the pointing device is even recognized there by the OS.
You can reinstall the driver by downloading it from the HP support portal from your notebook and double-clicking it to install it. Use the following URL. Your notebook is a 14-g114au model

Is the battery low on the wireless mouse?

That has nothing to do with my requesting you to double table tap in the upper left-hand corner of the touchpad. 😉

Lol after replacing batteries it still wasn't working on the wireless mouse so I went to Officeworks and bout another one and it worked.
I do want to fix the original problem though as the wireless mouse is just a bandaid.
Thanks for the advice I shall try that in a few days and let you know how it goes.
Thanks so much
