I don't know what exactly it is I'm doing but maybe 1 out of 5 times I put my finger on the trackpad to do something on a page, it swipes the page over to something completely different, as if I were swiping on the left hand side of the screen to bring up something else I'm doing.
Can anyone tell me how to fix this so I only have the option to swipe to another page on the screen and not the trackpad is it's getting really really annoying. I have an Envy touchsmart. Thanks 🙂

Are you referring to the TouchPad / ClickPad / MousePad?
You might have "Edge Swipes" enabled. As I look at this, it is one of the features that might "do this" sort of thing, that is, cause a window to pop or change characteristics suddenly if you graze the edge of the Pad.
Right-Click on your Synaptics TouchPad (in the Taskbar) > Open the "TouchPad Properties"
Enable Edge Swipes is near the bottom.
If you open the "Pointing" dropdown menu (in Properties), there are a variety of settings you can adjust for sensitivity level, momentum, all sorts of weird stuff.
Under "Smart Sense" you can adjust the area of pointing zone, that is, "where things happen". This may help if you have particular habits about how you use scrolling and where you like to keep your hands and such.
The point being that something in the myiad of setups available may be able to help you find a balance that will make the TouchPad usable without making you nuts. Smiling.
I hope this helps!
Good Luck!

You are welcome. I am glad it helped.
Every so often, keep an eye on your computer's website for updates.
In particular, the updates for the TouchPad can sometimes offer interesting and useful features.

Install TouchPad / ClickPad Software Driver for your Computer
Go to the top of the HP forum page to Support and Drivers
- If prompted, Enter your Country or Region and
- Enter your Computer Model information,
- Go to Software and Drivers...
- Enter your Operating System in the Drop-down menu... Scroll down
- Select desired Category Software – Solutions >> Driver - Keyboard, Mouse and Input Devices
- Select the package for TouchPad
NOTE: Download ONLY the relevant drivers and software for YOUR hardware - note that in the website you might find more than one kind of driver for more than one model of computer -- this is normal, but it does not mean YOUR computer uses all the software offered.
- Expand and decide if you need to install that package.
- Assure that you download and install only the most recent versions of each driver or program.
- Save the appropriate *.exe installation package on your computer
NOTE the name and the location - the *.exe file will likely save to "Downloads “
- Install the Software / Driver installation package: If you have ‘Admin’ control, you may highlight the package(s) and “double-click” to install, else Right-Click, Select ‘run as Administrator’ and install.
NOTE: There is sometimes a lot of information at the computer’s website. Take a look at what’s available and bookmark the page for later reference.
