Hi,

I purchased a HP pavilion 23 touchscreen last month (September 2015) and the touch function stopped working last week. I tried activating it through the control panel per the instructions on this forum, but no luck. This is what I tried -

  • Press Windows Key plus C to open charms
  • Click settings
  • Type in Control Panel
  • Open Control Panel
  • Open Hardware and sound
  • Select Pen and Touch
  • Click the Touch tab
  • Enable use your finger as an input

The computer is running Windows 10, so I don't know if there is another way to diagnose this and fix it. Please let me know if there is something else I should do.

thank you

Hi,

Sorry you are having trouble. Give these steps a try:

  1. After logging back in, from the Start screen, type Device Manager.
  2. Click Device Manager in the search results.
  3. Click the little triangle next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
  4. Click the touch screen driver (in my case, NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen).
  5. Right-click, and select Enable from the list (if the driver is not already enabled).
  6. Click Yes if a dialog box opens and asks if you are sure you want to enable the touch screen driver.
  7. Restart the computer.

If it isn't obvious which human interface device is the touch screen driver, please post again and we will work toward a solution. Meanwhile, I hope the steps above help!

I should have added earlier that disabling the touchscreen can also get it back in working order, as well.

The steps are very similar to those I posted earlier:

  1. From the Start screen, type Device Manager.
  2. Click Device Manager in the search results.
  3. Click the little triangle next to Human Interface Devices to expand the list.
  4. Click the touch screen driver (in my case, NextWindow Voltron Touch Screen).
  5. Right-click, and select Disable from the list (if the driver is not already disabled).
  6. Click Yes if a dialog box opens and asks if you are sure you want to disable the touch screen driver.
  7. Restart the computer.

Hi,

I tried both option (enable, disable then restarting) but it's still not working.

Can you suggest anything else?

In my computer the touchscreen is listed as 'HID-compliant touch screen' and when I double-click the device status indicates "This device is working properly."

Regards

Chuck
