Hi,
New notebook purchased last week (HP Pavilion dv6-7028tx Entertainment Notebook PC) running Windows 7 Home premium.
Purchased a HP 3005pr USB 3.0 Port Replicator (H1L08AA) as well.
Hooked up two monitors to the port replicator one on the HDMI port and one on the DisplayPort.
When we start up the notebook, the monitor on the DisplayPort is blank, it shows "no signal", but in the Screen Resolution control panel all three displays are shown and are supposedly enabled; the notebook display and the two monitors on the port replicator.
If I pull the two monitor connectors out of the port replicator, wait for displays to reset, re-connect the HDMI one, wait for reset, then re-connect the DisplayPort, all the displays come on.
The monitor on the HDMI port is a HP x2301 23 inch Diagonal LED Monitor [LM914AA ] , and the monitor on the DisplayPort is a HP L1950g.
Is this a bug with the Port Replicator do you think?

Hi,
I would like to help you but I am not able to do much because I do not have this Port Replicator. Check the link below maybe it will help you somehow with your problem:

Thanks Daniel,
As they say if all else fails read the manual. Although this does not fit the problem, as described, it did get me to thinking. In the troubleshooting section under video it says:
----------------
Problem: -
The computer monitor does not work.
Possible Cause: -
The external monitor has been
disconnected from the port replicator
before the port replicator was
disconnected from the computer.
Solution:-
Disconnect the port replicator from the
computer, and then disconnect the
external monitor from the port
replicator.
----------------------
I connected my notebook a HP Elitebook 8560w (problem was originally encountered on my wife's new notebook) and I had the problem after I installed the docking station drivers and restarted. I disconnected and reconnected the displays as described in my original post and it cleared the problem. I restarted again and this time had the 19 inch connected directly to my notebook's DisplayPort. It came up straight away. Now I read the manual and decided the problem must be that the port replicator should be disconnected from the USB port on the notebook before making any display connections on the replicator. I disconnected the port replicator from the notebook waited, and then reconnected it. I think this reset something, or properly established the configuration on the port replicator, because after having done this, after restarting all the displays came up, both the 23 inch and the 19 inch.
I'll have to try this with the wife's notebook when she gets back.

You're welcome and good luck. 🙂

I was mistaken, the problem still occurs after notebook restart, both mine and the wife's. The HDMI port must initially be disconnected and the DisplayPort connected first and displaying before proceeding to connect a monitor to the HDMI port.
The Port replicator cannot start off with two monitors connected. It must initialise with only one monitor connected to the DisplayPort. The second monitor can only be added to the HDMI port after initialisation.
