I would like to know if I purchase a UK power supply for my US laptop, will that be okay to use long term?  Seems like the adapters are very chunky and so I would rather have the correct cord.

The power supply you already have will work. All you need is a UK type plug to replace the US one with.

I happen to have to keep US power adapter cables for when I visit the US. I live in Europe where 230 Vac is the norm.

HP notebook power adapters are compatible to 100-240~ Vac

EU plugs vary by country in a really big way. My Netherlands plug will not plug into a UK socket as an example.

@JuliS

The AC adapters are Universal.

All you need would be the EU power cord.

And yes the end that plugs into the wall is a little chunky.

Thanks for the info.

The one I used at S.H.A.P.E.  in Belgum worked fine at Bitburg A.F.B. Germany.

Did not spend much time in the Netherlands or the U.K.

Thanks again.

When I get new HP product loans, I have to toss the cables they come with and replace them with the Dutch version of the HP proprietary cables.

I have a bunch of US HP power adapter cables  that are useless to me  except when I come to the US to visit family and come to the HP Expert Meetups.

There is almost always an HP Expert from outside of the US at the meetups who does not have a US power cable for their laptop.
