Hello,
I have just installed windows 7 on my Pavilion notebook 15-ab066n, it came with windows 8. i am having dificulty in locating the universal serial bus (USB) driver and there are also two unknown devices, I have been on the HP driver site and there is not a link for the driver for the chipset. please does anyone know where i can find this driver or what the chipset is so I can get it direct from intel? or what the two unkown devices are, they are not bluetooth or card reader as I have installed the drivers for those of the HP site.
Any help greatfully received.

You're very welcome.
Try these...
This package provides the driver that enables the Synaptics TouchPad in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. The driver enables general touchpad functionality (for example double-tap and scroll) and provides a user interface.
File name: sp71393.exe
The second driver is right from your notebook's support page and it is definitely the one you need for the 6007 device.
Try manually installing it as follows...
Go to the device manager and click on the unknown 6007 device needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
That folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp71811.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked and see if the driver installs that way.
Then reboot.

Hi:
Your notebook has an AMD processor and chipset according to the specs.
Accordingly, you need these smbus and usb3 controllers...
http://h20566.www2.hp.com/hpsc/swd/public/detail?swItemId=cp_128920_1
USB3: Install both of these and reboot.
Please post the hardware ID's for the unknown devices.
Click on each one in the device manager and then click on the details tab at the top of the unknown device window.
Now you should see a Property drop down list and it is defaulted to Device Description.
Drop down on that list and select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Post the top string of characters that you see in the window.

Hello,
Thank you for your help so far, unfortunatley the first driver will not download, it comes up with the error "your computer does not meet the minimum requirements" the AMD has downloaded but i am still without an universal serial bus driver.
The unknown devices are:
ACPI\SMB0001
ACPI\HPQ6007

Hi:
Sorry those drivers didn't work.
See if the chipset driver directly from AMD works to install the usb 3 controllers. First driver on the list.

SMB0001
The other two devices need these drivers...select the W7 drivers.

6007:
This package provides HP 3D DriveGuard Software (HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection) for supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system. HP 3D DriveGuard Software protects the hard drive by parking the heads if the notebook is accidentally dropped, or is abruptly impacted by another object.
