Hi rhl_yadav

I had replied to your previous thread.
And in fact, the same reply is applicable for this product too except for the fact that it depends on Operating system & its architecture you're going to install in this laptop.
This laptop comes with FREE DOS.

Here is the link to your product service manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04162986.pdf

This product came with 4GB RAM total with 1600 MHz DDR3L PC3L-12800 SDRAM configuration.

Manual says your system has 2 slots.

Upto maximum 16GB memory is supported (2*8GB) with dual channel support for identical size & configuration RAMs are put.(ONLY IF OPERATING SYSTEM IS 64-BIT)
Otherwise, If 32-bit is installed only upto 4GB (=APPROX. 3.5GB) can be upgraded.

The frequency of RAM which can be used is 1600MHz which can be downgraded to 1333 or even 1066MHz if these RAMs are too be used.

Hope this resolves your concern,

thanks,

I too want to memory upgrade my laptop and have the same model. I saw posts in this forum saying that adding extra RAM doesn't void my warranty. But HP won't be responsible for the extra RAM's failure and also if the RAM causes the laptop to malfunction. Moreover, I am not sure where to find a compatible RAM for the HP 15-r007tx model.

I want to know if there is any option where I can purchase a 4 GB HP manufcatured compatible RAM for the above model such that the whole laptop including the latest RAM comes under the warranty scheme (ADP).

Hi arthus

Refer to page 65 in the manual for R&R. It is not an easy removal & replacement at all - you've to disassemble almost upto motherboard for accessing the memory bay. So I suggest you contact HP for upgrade.

It'll definitely void warranty if you're not sure of what you're doing, & you've done this before (means you're not an expert) - thus any problem occurring following R&R will not be covered under warranty.

This specific model is further more difficult to reach into memory bay .

You can use the part number mentioned for the RAM you're looking for in the manual and order them from HP part store or type in RAM configuration needed in the search bar of hpshopping website , it'll then list the RAMs available.
If you put the exact mentioned part number then HP would avail the warranty. Otherwise I don't think they would.

This is an example of the RAM configuration we're looking for, I got it by searching hpshopping website:

For any further details, contact HP directly.

Thank you Visruth for guiding me. It helped me a lot.

I contacted HP support. Extra RAM can be purchased and fitted in the laptop without jeopardizing the warranty provided it has to be a HP manufactured compatible RAM and fitted in a HP Service Centre. I even called up a local service centre and they said that the RAM is available. However, I am still sceptical until the whole process gets done successfully. I hope that they give RAM of compatible part number (as mentioned in the manual).

I initially wanted to procure a laptop with an additional RAM with both assembled together at the HP Online Store but they say that it is not possible. RAM has to be purchased separately and fitted from a service centre.

Another query, if you can help me out:

I was comparing the configuration of HP 15 series and pavillion series laptops. Many pairs of models, one from each series, have almost the exact configurations but have a significant price difference (around 15-20%). Why is that so? Are the cheaper laptops are built of poor quality materials?

You're welcome!

I cannot compare anything in general. Both are very good laptops as far as I know.

Hi visruth, can I upgrade the RAM frequency..i.e. use 2000 or 2400 mhz rams?

@AritraBasu

There is no need is wasting money for frequencies not listed compatible for your notebook.
