nobody knows???

I just picked up a used HP 210 Mini 1080NR. The factory installed RAM is a 1GB DDR2 800Mhz PC-6400 module (HP Part number 599661-001).

I replaced it with a 2 GB G-Skills 800Mhz PC-6400 module which I had as leftover from a previous upgrade,,, and everything works like a charm.

The biggest hassle was the removal of the bottom cover to access the memory slot. The removal is done by first removing the battery then turning the netbook upside down and pressing the two orange tabs inside the battery compartment to pop the bottom cover open. Then the cover should be gently pulled towards the user to fulle release it.

Personalle, I would have prefered the micro screws like the full size HP notebooks have, because the orange plastic latches are a pain to operate successfully.

I hope this information will help the rest of the HP Mini 210 owners.

My wife just bought an HP mini 210 and I want took up the ram to 2 Gb.

Could you please verify that the DDR2 6400 ram actually runs at 800mhz? The memory controller can underclock ram that is rated for a higher speed.

Also could you include the timings on the ram?

This is a link to a little program that will tell you just about everything you wanted to know about your proc, chipset, and ram.

What I am asking for is under the memory tab in this program. Basically just all the information on that tab would be helpful.

Thanks

Hey guys and everyone,i wanna ask something here, which related to you guys also. Plz download CPUZ and run it,check the memory tab. Plz correct me if im wrong. The showed picture,my hp mini 210 is showing the ram is DDR3 type 1GB installed ram,the another is my desktop PC running DDR2 800mhz 4GB ram installed. Which means my laptop actually running DDR3 memory and it is installed DDR3 ram ? Coz im about to purchase the Corsair 2GB Gaming Ram DDR 800 soon ady,but it seems now can support DDR 3,i would think twice to get a DDR 3 ram already. plz check ur HP mini's ya. Great info to share with u guys. Coz the picture on the box and in website, they say HP mini 210 only support DDR2,Intel n450 say only support DDR2 667Mhz only, but some say HP Mini 210 is DD2 800 Mhz,which im wondering why my HP mini is DDR3 actually. The issue here is the DDR 3 slot is different than the DDR 2 slot,so it could be a concern. Thank you.

You can use either. 800 is backwards compatible with 667.

I'm not sure of the name, but can be had cheap at Walmart.com

if you remove the battery, then the details are on the back pane of the notebook.

both versions of windows (XP/7) are fully capable of using 4GB memory in 32 bit. the 64 bit versions can use much more.

If you look at my computer properties, it may show as 3 something GB of memory, this is because Windows maps the old DOS area 640MB + EMS memory for drivers, screen etc. but the memory is still used.

Generally Windows will take half the installed memory for it self, leaving the other half to your applications. If you use large drives or lots ow fmall files, you should leave it like that, but if you need more memory for your application to prevent swapping, you can change boot.ini (XP) to include a switch /3GB  which will take 1GB off windows and giving it to your applications. Some Windows work might slow down, but editing a Video could speed up.

Windows 7 has this mode as default as far as I can see. the 210 does appear faster with Win XP, especially if you set it up to optimize for performance.

Hello.

I just got a 210 netbook and I love it. I was able to find the basic specs by just going to the HP.com and searching through and looking at the specs tav under the product.

However, if you want specific details and an actual breakdown of how to take it apart and everything, they have that if you search that in the search bar. just put in the name i.g. Netbook 210 manual. Thats how I found it. You can also just go throught the support tab and go through and selecting your model.

If you remove the battery of your netbook and look behind it, the service tag is there with the info you will need. Most of the lower end netbook 210's say it only handles 1 gig, but you can try buying a 2gig stick and putting it in to see if it can handle it, often times they use the same system boards on a lot of the models and they actually can handle more than what it says.

You wont know till you try, it wont hurt anything, the worst thing is that it doesnt recognize more than a gig, but if your running windows 7, it shouldnt be a problem.

O.k. if you want to find info on your netbook, start here.

Not sure how long this link is good for, but it worked when I posted this. Keep in mind that there are probably 50 different models of just the 210 series so find out yours first.

I got here by doing a search in the search bar for Mini 210, once that page loaded, I found a link for Help and support. Once you get into this area, similar to the link above, You need to narrow it down by uour specific model. Be sure you get the right one.

Once you select it, it will take you to a page that has about 6 options for what you are looking for. Select the one for user manuals, in there is a couple of PDFs. it may or may not have the full repair manual with the entire breakdown, but if it doe, download that one, its probably from the factory and will have the most acurate details.

If your model doesnt have what your looking for, then you can always go to a computer store with your mini, remove the bottom cover, point at the memory stick and say " I need the biggest and fastest Ram I can fit in this slot." They will happily sell one to you. Then you can install it right there and test it.

If the memory bus speed is slower than the memorys speed, it wont hurt anything, it just means you wont get the full potential out of the RAM as far as speed, but you wont have to worry about upgrading again and it will always be able to handle what your CPU throws at it.

The memory stick thats in your netbook has a notch in it, depending on the notch, depends on the type of memory typically. but just let the tech people look at it so they can determine what kind it is.
