I had same problem. Upon reboot initially got a Windows 10 icon and circle showing progress then screen went blank. I read about some problem with video drivers that created another monitor that didn't really exist, upgrade instructions were being sent to non exisiten monitor. Tried recommended ways of entering password without seeing screen, no luck. Pluged in another monitor and was able to get mouse cursor, but nothing else. So the multiple monitor theory seems correct.
I decided to try and get safe mode up and then to restore back W7.1. I would then check for driver upgrades or later W10 build before attempting W10 upgrade again.
Tried rebooting pressing F8/F9 Shift F8/F9 to get back to safe mode when Windows 10 icon was showing, as other methods required machine to be running. Did this five or six times with no luck. But then I got a screen with a message that the upgrade appeared to have failed and a number of choices. I think this was triggered by powering off and on three times early on in reboot, according to articles about how to get to safe mode.
This screen offered choices of what to do. I chose to restore back to previous version of operating system. This worked fine. Now looking for driver upgrades. Seem to have lost the battery condition checker though - for some reason.
Earlier on I did get a auto download from HP advisor - the first thing I ran from this was acheck for compatability with W10, but this required another download that upon execution and reboot did nothing and the HP quesiton mark icon from the auto download was gone. So also checking HP for what that was about.

Same problem with my HP TouchSmart tm2. Registered fingerprints several times (deleting old registered fingerprints first) but it doesn't work. Using DigitalPersona, which came preinstalled on Win 7 Pro (from which I upgraded to Win10).

I have successfully upgraded from Win 8 Pro to Win 10 Pro.
The bluetooth keyboard that I have successfully used with Win 8 Pro does not work.
Device Manager indicates a Yellow Triangle and the status is: This device cannot start (Code 10) STATUS_DEVICE_POWER_FAILURE
Is this the correct driver for Win 10 Pro? Driver Version 2.2.016 date 11/20/13.
What is the solution to get the bluetooth device to function?

A user got the same thing when upgrading from Win7 to Win10. The blank screen is caused by the graphic's card driver.
Others has reported when you plug in an external monitor during boot you only see the mouse cursor on the external monitor. This is because it is dual screen booting but the primary screen is the laptop monitor you cannot see. Boot the laptop with the laptop screen closed but you will need an external mouse and keyboard. This should boot using the external monitor as primary and you should see the login screen.
Login to the OS. open Computer Management > Device Manager and disable the display adaptor, in my case it was the 'ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series'.
When you reboot the laptop you should see the login screen on the laptop's screen, hopefully. The screen resolution was defaulted to 1024x768 so not wide screen, but after login you can amend the resolution to high res and to wide screen format.
Note. I did try uninstalling the ATI Radeon driver but the OS seems to recreates and revert back to the black screen.
I hope this work for you.
