Using a 90W Power Adapter

HP Recommended
HP Envy 15-t3200 A6U31AV
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Hi.
I was searching for a power adapter for my laptop few days ago and I read a text expressed that if I use a 90W adapter instead of my current 65W power adapter, my laptop will perform high performance.
Is that true? If it's so, whay HP factory didn't release laptops with a 90W power adapter?

Hi @behradbv,

Thanks for visiting the HP community.  A good day to you. I came across your post where you require information for using a higher 90-watt adapter. I will be delighted to assist you here.

.

Splendid description of the issue. Kudos to you on that score.

🙂

To assist you with accurate information I would require more information regarding this.

  • Is your adapter working fine now?
  • Is it powering up the notebook and charging the battery.

Please note that HP would have included all the components based on the product specifications and the components that you selected for this notebook as it is a customized one.

Also, depending on the motherboard specifications, the adapter included would have been the best one for charging the battery and also for giving optimum performance of the computer based on the components that were used to build this computer.

A higher wattage adapter is only required for a large capacity battery and also for a very heavy graphics card, battery and processor. The original adapter would have matched all the specifications of the motherboard and other components of the computer and that is why this adapter was included which would be the best adapter for your computer given the circumstances. A higher wattage adapter may damage the internals of the computer if it is not designed for that product.

The included adapter ( the original one) would be the best adapter for the computer specifications and you would have selected all the parts of the computer before place the order.

Hope this helps.  Let me know how this goes. I genuinely hope the issue gets resolved without hassles and the unit works great.  🙂  Please reach out for any issues and I'll be there to assist you. 🙂

First of all I must thank you for your precise answer and description.
My laptop is working fine now and my power adapter charges my battery.

but in many websites and in its user guide, it has expressed that this laptop comes with 90W or even 120W AC adapter

I'm so hesitant now whether which power adapter will cause optimum and best performance

Hi @behradbv,

I reviewed the post and thanks for the super quick response. You've shown great effort and persistence for an appropriate answer.

The computer in question is a customized computer and not a standard one sold to all customers. There are several components in the User guide or service manual that are not installed on your computer. It is a list of components that can be selected to build such a customized computer based on the customer's requirement.

The very fact that the computer is working fine and charging correctly suggests that you have the correct adapter matching the components used to build your computer for optimum performance.

It has been an absolute privilege to have worked with you and to share this platform with you.:) I thank you greatly for that. I hope this answers your question. Trust me I've done all I can to help here and I genuinely hope things work great for you. 🙂

I honestly hope the computer works great and stays healthy for a long time. 🙂

Do take care, stay healthy, keep smiling big and do have a blessed year ahead. 🙂
