I am still getting 'the driver being installed is not validated for this computer'.

I don't understand that. It is the right operating system and the right specifications...

sorry for all that trouble.

could it be that I installed a 32bits OS on a 64bits hardware?

 

if I formated the computer would the problem be solved?

YA, both Intel and HP drivers are say the same thing....and Nooo, 32-64 is not an issue as per me....Have you reinstall the chipset driver

 

But let us go be prepared for OS install as well....
