Had to format my hard disc and reinstall Windows XP, then upgraded to Win 7. Windows has generic VGA driver that's OK, but it can't run any copmplex videos that it used to be able to run. I know it's 5 years old, but everytime I download stuff for the "specs" listed on websites (incl. HP, thank you), I can't get anywhere. I'm sure there have been more than one video card integrated into the board, but I don't know where else to turn!

Bummer...
That is even an older GPU than the GMA 900.
It is an Intel 82852/82855 GM/GME Graphics Controller.
OK... I have a possible driver you can use for that. No guarantee it will work great but it should work...
Here is the link to my OneDrive folder.

Download and unzip the file labeled Intel 82865g Driver (Vista - Win7).
You have to use the manual install method like you did with the other 2.
Good luck!

You're very welcome.
Manually install the vista driver from this model as follows:
Download and run the above driver. You will probably get an unsupported operating system error.
Close out of any error windows. Go to the device manager. Click to expand the Display Adapters category.
Click on the Standard VGA Adapter. Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver.
Select the Browse my computer for driver software method, and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.
The folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34771.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
After you reboot hopefully, the graphics should be working just fine.

Interesting...
The graphics driver which was for Vista shows that your notebook has the Mobile Intel 945GM chipset, which would use that driver.
However, I am thinking that since your notebook has a Pentium M processor, it has the older 915 chipset for which there are no drivers for Windows 7.
See if this works...

The folder will be located in C:\SWSetup\sp34749.
Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install.
After you reboot hopefully, the graphics should be working just fine, except you will not have Windows Aero as the Intel GMA 900 graphics adapter is not fully windows Vista or 7 capable.

Didn't work either. I remember trying to use the last file when troubleshooting Aero non-transparency. Keeps saying that I have no hardware for the software (even when I try to manually install).
Lost cause?

Not yet...
I need to know exactly what GPU is in your model. One of those drivers should have worked and since neither of them did, something tells me that there is a different model graphics adapter than what I am assuming.
Please do this...
Go to the device manager, click to expand the Display Adapters category.
Click on the Standard VGA adapter.
At the top of the Standard VGA Adapter window, click on the Details tab.
Now you see a Property drop down list that is defaulted to Device Description.
Drop down on that and select the second item (Hardware ID's).
Now you see 3-4 lines of characters, the top line starting with PCI\VEN.
Post that top line of characters.
