Can you suggest a good "generic" driver to be installed that will work well with beats audio?

Hey movies32,

Would you be able to tell us what model laptop you have and if it is customized, what it has?  My laptop for example is the dv6t-7000 Select Edition.

That would really be helpful, thanks!

Thanks for the update!  Yeah your computer is an AMD based motherboard therefore the chipset will be different than those of us with an intel chipset.  But it is good to know that they do have the proper audio drivers written, too bad they haven't provided such a driver for those of us with the intel models. I maybe able to still find a solution that is really far fetched but not too complicated.  Would you be able to upload and link the AESTAud64.sys file located in your windows/system32/drivers directory.  That is the file that is the driver basically.  I'm thinking if we replaced our file with yours then it might show us the options that you can see.  I tried installing the driver available for your particular laptop however, upon installing the installer says that the hardware detected is not support but my solution is to force the driver to install by overwriting the driver. So if you could send your driver file that would really be helpful.  Thanks!

Well I can show you how to install a generic driver however it will not work with beats audio features meaning that beats audio control panel will not be available.

Step 1: Right Click on the Audio Icon in the taskbar.

Step 2: Select "Playback Devices"

Step 3: Right Click on Speakers and Headphones and select Properties

Step 4: Click Properties

Step 5: Select Driver tab

Step 6: Select Update Driver

Step 7: Choose the "Browse my computer for driver software" option

Step 8: Choose the "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer" option

Step 9: Make sure the "Show compatible Hardware" option is checked

Step 10: Select the High Definition Audio Driver and click next and finish installing.

Note that the result of this will mean that the there is no beats audio control panel. But this will now allow you control which enhancements to enable/disable.

Below i've attached pics to show the steps above.  They take awhile to be approved so if they are not displaying then just wait awhile.

I can't seem to find that driver in the folder.  Would mine be called something else?

Just got mine delivered and read about this but didn't think it too big a problem to prevent me from purchasing the laptop(dv6 with i5 processor).  However, I turned on the music and noticed it WAS getting REALLY loud then REALLY soft....kind of like being on a boat in the ocean.  It stinks because Ive read all the comments and there seems to be no definitive solution. If this were a car a might ask for a factory recall, hopefully beats audio and hp can come up with a solution because I might not keep the lap top through the 21 day trial if I cant watch movies, stream videos or listen to music without getting * sea sick * with the fluctuations.  Any advice?

And all this is happening is because HP felt less was more. At least I have my MacBook Air that is beats less and has superb audio with no roller coaster ride. I might as well sell my dv4t-5100 (Got this as a replacement for another defective notebook. The irony.) and buy another apple seeing as I really doubt HP will do anything anytime soon.

Hey guys, this seems very simple and was wondering if anyone could shed some light onto the details of how this audio system works and why this helps. I went to the beats audio sound adjuster board (black with multiple different rows were you can adjust levels)  and there are two settings for "center" and "space". When I turned center on high, there wasn't much distortion in the volume throughout the song, (this is with space on low). THen when I added "space" and raised its levels you immediately get the wavey echoey motion.  Why does space do this?  It seems like space is the outside kind of "surround sound" speakers that add compensation and detail to the main "center" speakers and are much of the problem.  So if your going nuts and want a temp solution try turning space off and center adjusted to high.

Other than that anyone find a sound driver to help? I also followed the idea listed of installing a new sound driver other than the beats and it worked but it sacrificed the depth and sound quality at the expense of the waveness (which still didnt completely disappear).  Hmm....

Hey, guys.  I am having the same problem all of you are.  The workaround didn't work, and I've done everything short of opening up my laptop and giving the soundcard the evil eye.  I noticed something, though.  The people who had this problem from 2009-2011 would be able tyo solve it by using the enhancements tab, which doesn't seem to exist in 2012 hp laptops.  Would installing a beats audio driver or IDT driver from 2010 help?

Unfortunately I have the same issue as all of you guys here, my volume keeps adjusting like no tomorrow and during songs, although the sound quality is great, it is really bothersome to hear the laptop struggle at keeping up with volume adjustments.

I have the dv6z-7000 with A10-4600m so it is an issue with AMD laptops as well. What I also don't understand however, is when I disable "Speakers and Headphones" in the playback menu and force enable "communications headphones" by default (im using headphones), although it fixes the volume eq'ion, it fails to find that the headphones are plugged into the computer even though I can clearly hear sound through my headphones...

Not only will you not be able to launch certain applications without sound this way, but the sound quality will not even compare to "speakers and headphones" because "communications headphones" apparently isn't able to use beats... grrrrrrr. HP, for the love of GOD, you have an awesome laptop and may not think this is a big deal, but it is to some of us -_-
