whenever i adjust the volume on my hp dm3 laptop, there was always a display (blue line onscreen) where you can see that you are adjusting the volume. these past few days, the display seems to be missing. i can still sdjust the volume but the display/ indicator makes it easier to know if i have reached the maximum (and stop pressing the button already).
please advise.

You Would have run on start menu, but no issues, here are 2 ways to get there...
- Press Windows Key+R, it will launch the run window, in that enter "msconfig" and press enter
or
- In Click Start,in the search box type "msconfig", it will give you "msconfig.exe"

On my computer, this is how I get the Volume to display on the screen.
- Click Start.
- Click on Control Panel.
- Double click on Keyboard.
- Select the Onscreen Display tab.
- Check the box next to show volume controls on the screen.

This is a function of HP MediaSmart Menu application. Make sure that you have not uncheck that option from startup items in msconfig Or the other thing you can do in reinstall HP MediaSmart Menu from Recovery Manager.

cyclops,
i do remember meddling with my start-up items a few days ago. i was advised to un-tick the items that i do not need to make the starting up faster. i did not know that it will have an effect to the touchpad lock button and volume adjustment display.
now i can't seem to find my way back to the start-up items so i can tick / check them again.

To get there...
- Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
- In that window, On the Startup tab
- Look down the list for "HP MediaSmart Menu" and check the box next to it.
- Click OK.
- Restart your computer.
If you are having Touchpad Switch not working...YA, that can be just touchpad Driver issue, I would suggest installing the Touchpad Driver and checking...
