Pavilion g6-2215sia
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

Recently I updated my BIOS on my HP Pavilion g6-2215sia laptop thinking it will fix the hardware acceleration feature absent in my system (there was no option in my BIOS to enable virtualization technology). My BIOS version was F.12 and I upgraded it to F.24, but after the BIOS update all my wireless features stopped working (including my wifi and bluetooth) and still there was no option to enable virtualization technology in my BIOS settings. :mansad: On my Windows 8.1 x64 Pro the wifi and bluetooth options are greyed out so I can't turn them on or off. I tried reinstalling my bluetooth driver but the software said it did not detect any bluetooth hardware. Even when I restart and boot into all my Linux distributions installed in my system (Quina, Ubuntu and Kali Linux) and my Android x86, they still can't detect my wireless functionality (Ubuntu says, "wifi is disabled by hardware switch").

To further confirm that it was not a software issue, I ran a startup check and tested for my wireless module and got this result, "WIRELESS MODULE CHECK: NOT INSTALLED". Now the only way I can get my Windows OS to recognise my wireless functionality (wifi and bluetooth) is by doing a hard reset, where I unplug my laptop from AC power supply, remove the battery and hold down the power button for approximately 30 seconds. When I power on my system, I can then turn on/off my wifi/bluetooth on my Windows. But if I restart my system the problem comes back and I can't turn on my wireless. So basically I have to avoid restarting/shutting down my system, and only do hibernate, so that whenever I power on my laptop I can use the wireless. If I restart my system then I have to repeat the hard reset again to be able to use my wifi/bluetooth, which can be very annoying.

The problem is that I use my other Linux disributions often and I have to restart before booting into them so that my drives will be mounted as read/write and when I do so my Linux can't detect my wireless and this is a serious pain for me as I need to use my wireless often for internet connection.

Please I really need help on how to fix this and get my wireless working normally without having to do a hard reset everytime. I've tried to roll back to my prevoius F.12 BIOS but I don't have the image file (I have searched extensively on the internet to find it but to no avail). I even upgraded it again to F.26 but I still have the same issue (My current BIOS version is F.26).

If you don't see BIOS updates in your drivers list- where did you get the BIOS updates you have been using? :Surprise:

Try here- if you don't see BIOS listing, use the "Edit" button to change from Windows 8.1 to Windows 8:

Have you tried removing the wireless card and starting up once, then shutdown and reinstall it?

The lowest BIOS version I see posted for your model is F.14. Go to your driver page, click on BIOS. You will see two tabs-one is 'Details' the other is 'PreviousVersions'. Click Previous Versions to see all available BIOS files.

Yes, I removed the wireless card and inserted it again but I still had the same issue. I didn't see any BIOS option in my drivers section. Can you post the download link for the F.14

please?

Thank you so much!!! :manvery-happy: I clicked the edit button and selected Windows 8. I saw the BIOS option and downloaded all the available BIOS updates, then I flashed the F.14 BIOS on my system and voila!!! My wireless card is detected across all OS platforms on my system. I think I'd have to do the BIOS updates sequentially and see, instead of jumping from F.14 to F.26 as I did before, but that'll be later.

You just saved the day for me. I really appreciate.
