Hello Xciii,

I understand you state the webcam is not working, is that correct? I will attempt to help you with this issue.

If you upgraded to a different operating system, and the webcam still doesn’t working properly there is a good chance it’s a hardware issue.

One thing you can check is to make sure the connection cable is still properly seated to the webcam.  Are you using the DV7-6b78us notebook?

Thanks

Hi,

I'm using the dv7-6b78us model, actually.

I'm about to check inside, under the battery.  I don't think I want to pull it apart like the other guy did, but still.

@Xciii,

Were you able to check the connection?

I pulled the facing off of the monitor and the connection looks fine.

If the connection is off between monitor and in the casing for the hinge to the chasis, i dont know.  i'm not sure how to take that appart and do not want to damage anything trying

@Xciii,

The cable connection from your webcam goes to a connection on your motherboard, which I understand you say you don’t really want to take apart which I understand.  Because you mentioned you are out of warranty you might want to consider taking this laptop to a local technician in your area to have a look at it. I have a feeling the webcam might be bad, or just the connection cable itself right now these are just assumptions.

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks

I dont really want to take apart, if i dont have to but i am not afraid of taking it apart to check before i take to service shop.

if i had some instructions on how to do it, i will try.

i removed the screws and tried to get it open but it's a tight fit and i'm i didnt want to pry at the casing too hard and break something

@Xciii,

Here is the maintenance and service guide, page 97 shows the display assembly, page 101 shows some information on the webcam. Unfortunately, the instructions are not that great when it comes to the webcam.

Please respond back at your earliest convenience.

Thanks
