If they are not willing to explain what is does then it probably does something I'm not going to like.

I'm removing it.

first of all, when we are talking about "energy efficient", hp would have to rework their own web site. using ms edge it is impossible to use, using internet explorer, the laptop fan start to blow like crazy, sign that is an intense power consumption.

avoiding to give a complete explanation about energy star software is maybe due to the fact that, they really do now know what it is doing, or maybe it does nothing, and it is put there as a window dressing, for PR purposes. to make people say: see, the HP guys are concerned about energy consumption and global warming hype.

Hi @QuiteVampire,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums. It is a great place to find the help you need, from other users, HP experts, and other support personnel.

HP Energy Star Software: The program provides the ENERGY STAR Qualified Power Plan. ENERGY STAR is a program to promote superior energy efficiency. This package provides ENERGY STAR compliant power options.

And you can look at the details of the government certification as part of the Clean Air Act, below:

There is a previous post replied by Malygris1 who have explained the importance of Energy Star. I would suggest not to delete the program.

You're answer to this question is not helpful at all.

What we would LIKE to know is what exactly does this do to our HP Laptops. Does it help lengthen battery life? Does it hender the computers performance?

I have worked in Customer Support before and if I answered all of my customers like you answered this question "What Does Energy Star Software Do?" I would have been fired.
