I currently have two 2GB memory pieces totaling 4 GB for my Pavilion dv7 and want to know what the max RAM my laptop can handle and what type of RAM I should purchase.
Serial # [Personal Information Removed]
Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS
Processor: AMD Turion (tm) II P540 Dual-Cpore Processor 2.40 GHz
Any help would be most appreciated.
Thank you,
Chuck

Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02642701
Upto 8gb max.
Page 3, 23, 57 in Manual gives the details you need.
Put two 4gb stick of exactly same configuration, speed etc as in Manual and each other, possibly same brand. Crucial, Kingston have their online scanners which lists guaranteed compatible sticks.
You can also order HP part, if you need to get exact part from either HP part store or online retailers via Amazon or eBay.
