What power is ouput from my USB port?

I'd like to know so that, if I have a device that will happily charge from there, I can try plugging it into somewhere else so as not to be dependent on the presence of my PC.

@Ruaridh: The HP Support Spec page shows your PC has a USB 3.0 ports.

These ports have two different power output ratings, depending on the purpose of the port:

1) standard USB 3.0 port -- 500mA (0.5 amps)

2) charging USB 3.0 port -- 1500mA (1.5 amps)

You get the best charging experience with you use a USB 3.0 wall charger. Those can typically deliver 2.1 amps.

Good Luck
