When I start up my laptop and then dock it, the video monitor will only show my desktop background photo.  My desktop icons do not display.  If I undock my laptop, all the desktop icons are there.  Why won't they display when docked?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

When you say the icons don't show on the monitor when the laptop is docked, do you mean the "external" monitor (the one connected to the docking station), or do you mean your laptop screen?

My guess is that you have the display settings when docked configured to have your laptop screen be the primary monitor, and as such, it would get the icons by default.  Your external monitor, being a secondary monitor, would not show the icons.

If you have BOTH screens on while docked, you can go into settings and change which screen is primary, and that should fix the icons problem.

Good Luck
