HP Pavilion dv7-6175us notebook pc, Windows 7 64 bit
I haven't made any major changes, no new software or hardware installed (just the usual gazillion updates for every **bleep** program and operating system)
I have tried uninstalling and re-installing HP support assistant several times, but still keep getting the same error message, something about HPSA.exe encountering a fatal error, yadda yadda yadda, end of the world everyone run screaming into the streets.
I find it amusing (not really, trying to be nice) that the program designed to help with problems is the one with a problem I need help with.
Daisy, daisy, give me your answer do.........

Hey,
Try the following
First of all, uninstall your current version of HP Support Assistant by using the Microsoft 'Fixit' on the following link - this is particularly useful in correcting issues that may prevent reinstallation on machines running a 64bit OS.
http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
When this has completed, restart the notebook.
Next download and install the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - the download links are towards the bottom of the page.
After the installation, restart the notebook again.
THX 🙂

No matter what has happened, I have had the Microsoft fix it utility scan my laptop and it even says there is nothing wrong with it. Nevertheless the HP Support Assistant still does not work. For days now it says this and also says Microsoft is going to resolve this issue.......what is the holdup?
