Why doesn't my fingerprint scanner work in Google Chrome?

I have a Pavilion dv6 laptop with a fingerprint scanner, and it worked great in IE.  I recently switched over to Google Chrome because I find it faster, but now my fingerprint scanner won't prompt me to scan for a password, nor will it even open a page when I open it voluntarily and tell it to.  I suspect it has something to do with the fact that Chrome isn't a real web browser like IE, but I'm hoping maybe there is a fix for this that HP has come up with or someone knows about?

This is how I fixed it. Hope it helps most of you guys.
First, go to Control Panel

Then go to "Biometrics" and click on "Biometric Devices"

You'll see "Validity Sensors Inc." Click on "Properties". (It should be under Validity Sensors Inc.)
A tab will open up and under the "General" folder, click on "Change Settings"
Another tab will open but this time you need to click "Power Management"

Uncheck the box "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"

It turns off if your computer ever gets under 20-% for it's battery life and it will automatically turn off. Not sure why it wouldn't turn back on after you charge it but I hope this helps!
